Privacy and security are two very real concerns. The default settings in Firefox are pretty good at protecting your privacy and security, but you can make some adjustments to protect yourself even more. In this hack, we’ll show you how to prevent malicious JavaScript code to alter your browser and steal your information.
Why would you need to protect yourself from JavaScript code? Malicious JavaScript code is a new emerging threat that no one has yet figured out how to fix without degrading your Internet experience.
Some malicious web site may attempt do some tricky things with JavaScript code embedded in their web pages to steal your information or fool you to believe you’re visiting a trusted web site. You can disable JavaScript completely, but doing so can break the functionality of many web sites (especially Web 2.0 web sites). If you don’t need JavaScript, you can simply deselect “Enable JavaScript” in Tools -> Options.
If your favorite web sites do require JavaScript to work properly, you can use Firefox’s JavaScript advanced configuration to disable suspicious and unwanted features. You can access the advanced configuration menu by clicking on the Advanced button next to the “Enable JavaScript” in the Options window. We recommend disabling them all.

While it is not a bulletproof defense against malicious JavaScript code, it can make it a lot harder for attackers to do the first step.
