Want to jailbreak your 1.1.1 iPhone so you can install third party applications and use it on any GSM network? Now you can. Two weeks after Apple released the update that disabled iPhones that had been unlocked or had third-party software installed, the iPhone Dev Team has officially announced the iPhone 1.1.1 Jailbreak.
This hack provides jailbreak, activation and third party applications. While the iPhone Dev Team does not claim a fix for phones with modified basebands, the iPhoneSIMFree team announced yesterday that as a result of the latest hack, they’re now able to unlock the iPhones that fell silent after the installing the last update.
Follow these steps to jailbreak your iPhone 1.1.1:
- Downgrading to 1.0.2 (if necessary)
- Preparing the iPhone for a jailbroken update
- Performing a software update, leaving you with a jailbroken v1.1.1
- Forcing v1.1.1 to mount read-write so you can access it
- Installing SSH and BSD world
- Activating with a Non-AT&T SIM
- Patching SpringBoard to allow third-party applications
- Clean-up
